American Academy in Rome www.aarome.org
This month we published "ZUPPE: Soup Recipes from the Kitchen of the American Academy in Rome" by Mona Talbott. Chef Talbott had been the Executive Chef at the Rome Sustainable Food Project (RSFP) at the Academy for the past 5 years. She's a Chez Panisse alum and was selected by Alice Waters to head the RSFP.
ZUPPE is the second in the RSFP cookbook series, the first was BISCOTTI, published in late 2010. In fall 2013, we will be publishing the third cookbook, PASTA.
Mona lives in Brooklyn now and she will be in the Bay Area from May 21-27. Book Passage in the Ferry Building is hosting an event for ZUPPE on Saturday, May 26, at 1 pm.
Also, the Chez Panisse menu will be featuring soups from the book from May 20-26.

Dobbs Ferry 409 Gough Street San Francisco, CA (415) 551-7700 www.dobbsferrysf.com
Dobbs Ferry is a small village in Westchester County, New York, along the west bank of the Hudson river, approximately 20 miles North of Manhattan. Dobbs Ferry is the hometown of Scott Broccoli (owner) and Danny Sterling (owner, Director of Operations) and Michael Yakura (owner, Executive Chef) is now an honorary member. Dobbs Ferry is a California Bistro in the Hayes Valley district of San Francisco that marries West coast cuisine with old school, small town New York style.
The cuisine of Dobbs Ferry is casual, rustic and approachable. We have personal relationships with our purveyors, local farmers, fish mongers and producers. All of our raw materials are largely "natural", "sustainable" and "organic". This is not a new trend for any contemporary bay area restaurant, but it is a proud moniker that Dobbs Ferry will continue. It is a common standard for a restaurant to be "farm to table" and as organic, sustainable and natural as possible. We will abide by these practices and philosophy to build that natural trust and understanding between the Dobbs Ferry staff and its patrons.

From Joel Riddell- about Gene and Gil
As you know, Gene is recovering from a stroke.
Gil mentioned Wednesday during the announcement of his “The Gil Gross Program” Gene has not yet recovered enough to be back on the air. You see, he has aphasia, which is affecting his speech. Ironic really, if you think of his major skills in the spoken word. The management of NewsTalk910 have been very supportive of Gene during this period of time, and of me. They are fans, as are we of Gene’s ability to talk issues of the day - to argue without offending- to offer differing opinions in a
professional gracious manner. As Gene continues to recover, I welcome
and read comments made by you to him on www.diningaround.com . Gene will be welcomed back to the air when he is ready - and the whole team expects to keep every body as up to date as possible. * Information is tough / as the recovery is steady yet not fast. For me, I exist in the
same fast paced world as the rest of you. My expectations and
assumptions are quick- and patience is something I have had to learn.
Medicine can be an art, and he is maneuvering this maze of aphasia
better than some.
I will continue to host the Dining Around program in Gene’s absence,
and go over my notes with Gene prior, and post program. I know he is
listening and it makes me proud to be able to step up.
I am happy for any suggestions people have, feel free to offer them
via www.diningaround.com .
Also, Please keep up the good work- Tweet, Blog, or simply tell your
friends where we have landed. This is not a race, but an ever
increasing wave of information, a family growing strong from roots to
branches to the seed pods spreading the news.
From Me to You
